Yahoo Stores has been out for a year and most issues have been dealt with. It is about to be sold off so sign up now while the price is low.
It’s hard to find a Yahoo Stores review online despite it being released a year ago. When it did launch in August 2014 I quickly created an account and demo store eager to see how the long awaited revamp of the Yahoo Shopping Cart had played out.
It was appalling. So much so I spent several days online talking to colleagues agonizing over every detail.
The first thing I noticed was that you couldn’t add options to products. Size, Color, Style, none of it. There was a box you could apparently enter the detail. There was just no way to use it. It was arcane. I thought it was a user error and after 2 days of trying every possible data entry combination I gave in and called Yahoo. Good news, a real person answered. That was a huge deal. That person also knew the product. That person was intelligent and polite. It was the customer support jackpot. I couldn’t wait to add a massive 10/10 for Yahoo customer support to my review.
Bad news. They knew you couldn’t add product variants/options. They released it anyway. They would eventually be releasing a version that enabled product options they just couldn’t commit to when.
